Post 1 Date: Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Title: comparing two declarations.

My reflection on the treaty of waitangi  was to compare 2 different declarations and how each impacted on Maori people. 1st: the treaty of waitangi was made for Maori and British people to make peace and make fair trades with each other, but Kawiti was curious about the British and didn’t trust them. Since the treaty was in English the Maori people couldn’t understand it and they snuck in a lot of things they told them they wouldn't do.

Post 2 Date: the land march. link

The land march got over 1 thousand people to join in and thousands more watching. They walked from the hapua to wellington. The leader of the march was Daina fina Cooper and her son and daughter.

They would always stop now and then. Daina fina cooper influenced many people to fight for what’s theirs along with her famous quote “not one more acre.” Theri march took over a month walking and stopping in many marae's. The march was put together by Daina Fina Cooper because the government was stealing maori land without making a deal or trade. The march went across all of Northland until they got to wellington. Some were crying that they went this far to get to the end. Others were happy.

The marchers gave the government a headache and immediately accepted the marchers' offer. Everyone was confused because the government accepted the offer extremely quickly but everyone went home. Whina Cooper waited there for a couple days for them to hand over the land but they didn’t. It then started many riots and protests until eventually a few years later they did it.

Post 3 Date: Ngā kupu matua mo tō tātou whenua  link

Title:

My reaction to this blog is about what I learnt while doing this mahi.

Kupu matua is a range of important words but we learnt about 3 of these words.

Those being, kotahitanga, whakapapa and kotahitanga. Once we finished we had to explain how they relate to each other, below is my understanding:

Whakawhanaungatanga was an interesting one because of how much people relate to it and use it everyday. Whakapapa was basic but still important because of its name. Our whakapapa make’s us who we are today and we have to acknowledge how they fought in wars, experienced near deaths and many, many more. Kotahitanga was a kupu matua I didn’t know much about but was very cool to work on. What it basically means is to unite with each other. For example, many Maori tribes had to unite with each other to win the battle against the British. That’s all the information I knew but others probably had more.

Post 4 Date: career choice link

Title:

In this topic we had to choose a job that we would like to pursue in the future, We then had to research stuff like, how much money you make, how long you would have to train for and ect. After that we had to work on a booklet called ‘My Dream Something’. What we had to do was choose our dream house, what we would want in our house and activities we would like to do, we then had to choose a place to go to for a vacation. I chose Mars because why not. After all of that we then faced an unexpected turn, and that was our billing. So everything we chose we would have to work out how much money we would lose and more.

Post 5 Date: nz entrepreneur  link

Title:

In this topic we had to choose a person who made a famous brand or shop and research about them. I chose Hellenstein because they were very fashionable and cool. The creator of hallensteins was Bendix hallenstein. His family owned an old mill that would sell clothes from rags and other stuff. After that we then had to make a poster about our entrepreneur and it had to be styled good.
